Honoring a Legacy of Leadership: Joseph M. Dombrowski Receives MSCI’s 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award

Pennsylvania Steel Company is proud to announce that our Founder, Joseph M. Dombrowski, has been awarded the 2025 Metals Service Center Institute (MSCI) Lifetime Achievement Award—one of the most distinguished honors in the metals industry. The award recognizes individuals whose leadership and integrity have left a lasting impact on the metals community. Few deserve this recognition more than Joe.

A Vision That Started in 1972

When Joe founded Pennsylvania Steel Company in 1972, he built the company on principles that continue to guide us today:

  • Provide unmatched customer service

  • Treat employees as family

  • Lead with honesty, humility, and integrity

From a single location in Huntingdon Valley, PA, Joe grew Pennsylvania Steel into a thriving company with branches across the East Coast and Midwest. His dedication, work ethic, and people-first philosophy set the tone for more than 50 years of success.

A Personal and Unforgettable Surprise

This year’s award presentation was unlike any other. Instead of being recognized at the annual MSCI conference, Joe received the award in a deeply personal way.

Bob Weidner, President & CEO of MSCI, visited Joe at his home to surprise him with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The moment was heartfelt, genuine, and emotional — a fitting way to honor someone who has dedicated his life to the metals industry and built a company centered on people.

The video we’re sharing below captures Joe’s reaction as Bob presents the award — a moment we will remember for a very long time.

A Leader Who Defined Our Culture

Joe’s leadership has shaped not only Pennsylvania Steel, but countless careers and partnerships throughout the metals community. His ability to connect with people, his steady guidance through industry changes, and his unwavering commitment to doing things the right way have earned him admiration nationwide.

Even after more than 50 years, Joe remains deeply involved in the company. He still comes into the office multiple days a week, and he’s known for walking the warehouse floors to check in with employees, shake hands, and share a conversation. These visits — genuine, consistent, and personal — reflect the culture he built: one where every person matters, and every role is respected.

Joe has always believed that success starts with people — visiting branches, talking with employees, and fostering an environment where everyone feels valued. That belief remains at the heart of who we are today.

A Legacy Worth Celebrating

Joe’s surprise recognition at home underscores the profound respect he has earned over the years. This award is not just a milestone — it’s a celebration of a lifetime of leadership, character, and dedication.

We are honored to carry forward the culture he built:

Congratulations, Joe

From the entire Pennsylvania Steel Company family:

Thank you for your leadership, vision, and the legacy you’ve created.

The 2025 MSCI Lifetime Achievement Award is a fitting tribute to a lifetime of excellence.
