Pennsylvania Steel Company acquires leading steel supply company in Birmingham, Alabama

Bensalem, PA – 08/26/2024 – Pennsylvania Steel Company Inc., a leading Steel Service Center, is pleased to announce the acquisition of Besco Steel Supply, a steel service center based in Birmingham, Alabama.

For over 30 years, Besco Steel Supply has built a reputation for excellence, and forging strong, lasting relationships with its customers. This acquisition marks a significant milestone in PA Steel’s growth strategy, further solidifying our position as a leader in the Steel Service Center Industry and expanding our reach in the Southeastern United States.

Birmingham’s New Leadership

Hale Nelson started in the Metal Industry in 2006 and worked successfully in Inside Sales, Outside Sales, & both Operations & Sales Management, and was an award winning District General Manager of three locations in the Southeast. Prior to joining Pennsylvania Steel, Hale was a Regional Director of Operations in the Construction Supply Industry.  Hale holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Pennsylvania Steel Company Expanding Into The Cleveland Marketplace.

Pennsylvania Steel Company Inc. has agreed to acquire Erie Metals Inc., Berea OH. The acquisition will be completed on January 5, 2016. The Erie Metals Division will be the 8th location for Pa Steel. This new location will dramatically increase Pennsylvania Steel’s market footprint which previously ranged from South Carolina through New England.

Erie Metals Inc. is a cold finished carbon bar specialist and has been servicing the Cleveland market for over 25 years. Erie Metals founders Mike Reese and Jim Straka will both remain on board as part of the Erie Metals Division of Pennsylvania Steel.

Pennsylvania Steel Co. Inc. is a privately held full line Metals Service center headquartered in Bensalem PA. Pa Steel provides raw material to the metal manufacturing sector through eight Service Center locations. Core products include Carbon and Alloy Steels, Aluminum, Stainless, Tool Steel and Tubing products.

We at Pennsylvania Steel Company are passionate about contributing to young adults’ continued education. That’s why we created the PA Steel Company Scholarship. Every year we choose a student who has shown exemplary leadership, skill, and dedication to their future career and community.

This year, we are pleased to announce that Anthony Visco has been awarded The Pennsylvania Steel Company, Inc. Scholarship. He will receive $5000 towards his education in Neuroscience at Rutgers University. He is the son of Christina Weiss, an outstanding employee and overall wonderful person from PA Steels’ Bensalem office.
